Shattuckite - Kaokoveld, Namibia
🔬 Scientific Description
This miniature specimen consists of fine crystalline shattuckite exhibiting an intense sky-blue coloration. Despite its small size, it displays strong saturation and fibrous microcrystal textures characteristic of pure copper silicate hydroxide.
Formed through the oxidation of primary copper sulfides, shattuckite occurs in association with chrysocolla and quartz but in this case appears nearly pure. Its compact crystal structure and vitreous sheen make it a highly collectible micro-mineral from Namibia’s copper-rich deposits.
