Chrysocolla with Malachite and Quartz - Kaokoveld, Namibia
🔬 Scientific Description
This specimen reveals a fusion of deep blue chrysocolla and green malachite with a thin layer of quartz druse. The intergrowth of copper silicate (chrysocolla) and copper carbonate (malachite) within a silica matrix gives rise to the stone’s unique color transition from sea-green to azure blue.
These minerals form in secondary enrichment zones of copper deposits, where silica-rich fluids percolate through oxidized rock. The quartz crust adds stability and sparkle to the specimen’s natural luster.
