Chrysocolla with Quartz and Shattuckite - Kaokoveld, Namibia
🔬 Scientific Description
This attractive specimen exhibits a beautifully defined geode cavity lined with shimmering quartz microcrystals overlying rich blue chrysocolla and shattuckite layers. The color zoning ranges from deep indigo to sky-blue, revealing multiple mineral deposition events during oxidation of copper ore veins.
The surrounding host rock retains a dark matrix, contrasting vividly with the bright silica-copper mineral core. Such specimens form when silica-rich groundwater interacts with secondary copper minerals, creating striking concentric patterns within the cavity walls.
