Chrysocolla with Quartz and Malachite - Kaokoveld, Namibia
š¬ Scientific Description
This small yet striking specimen showcases concentric bands of deep teal chrysocolla transitioningĀ into a drusy quartz core. Fine malachite inclusions appear on the edges, giving a subtle greenĀ contrast to the vivid blue center. The geode-like cavity displays classic quartz microcrystallization,Ā formed as silica-rich solutions filled hollow spaces in copper-bearing rock.
Such formations are typical of secondary copper mineralization processes found in the Kaokoveld copper belt, where chrysocolla often develops as a stabilized silicate crust on host rock surfaces.
