Chrysocolla with Malachite on Matrix - Kaokoveld, Namibia
🔬 Scientific Description
This specimen features a rich layer of Chrysocolla with fibrous Malachite formations spreading across a silica-based matrix. Chrysocolla, a hydrated copper phyllosilicate, is recognized for its vivid blue and green hues, often forming earthy, botryoidal, or powdery coatings. Malachite, a copper carbonate hydroxide, appears as fibrous velvet-green growth within the Chrysocolla mass, adding texture and mineralogical complexity. The specimen presents strong color saturation and banding typical of secondary copper mineral zones.
