Chrysocolla with Malachite and Quartz - Kaokoveld, Namibia
🔬 Scientific Description
This vivid turquoise specimen displays a lustrous combination of chrysocolla and malachite on a dark quartz-bearing host. The surface exhibits botryoidal patterns and subtle fibrous textures formed through the oxidation of copper ore deposits. Green malachite patches accent the blue chrysocolla, suggesting multi-stage mineralization from silica- and carbonate-rich fluids.
The piece’s saturated colors and compact crystalline form are characteristic of copper oxidation zones in northern Namibia.
